Our Gender Ultrasound & Announcement!

BOY

It’s official!!! We’re having a baby BOY!!! (we announced it the day before Easter, which is why we’re holding a couple of eggs like weirdos)

Alex and I booked an ultrasound at a private clinic in Phoenix called Prenatal Peek for this past Saturday (April 4th) and we found out that our precious little baby is all boy. 🙂 Of course, we would have been absolutely thrilled either way but I’ve had it in my head since I first saw those double pink lines that I’m carrying a son. I guess it’s true what they say about a mom’s intuition, at least for me. My family is mostly all girls (even my sister is pregnant with a girl — little Madelyn Grace <3) so it’ll be so much fun to have a baby boy around too. Baseball and wrestling and dinosaurs, here we come!

During our appointment, we got to see our little man in regular 2D and also in 3D, which was half awesome and half the creepiest thing I’ve ever seen haha. Alex was like “Umm…let’s go back to the 2D.” Babies look a little like play-doh aliens in those 3D womb pictures. But, I mean, how good would you look if you’d just barely grown some facial features and plus you’re stark naked for all the world to see? He was just a blob of cells 17 weeks ago so it’s not his fault if he’s a tiny bit creepy-looking. 😉 It’s okay, baby, I’m sure you’ll come out looking like a total stud.

Here are some of the 3D shots we got during the ultrasound. I still think he’s adorable, but I’m a little biased. 🙂

Yawning:

16 weeks 21

Kind of strange side view where he’s rubbing his right eye:

16 weeks 17

“Hi world!”

16 weeks 15

Every time we get an ultrasound, I’m absolutely blown away by how much our baby has changed since the last ultrasound. Check out the difference between 12 weeks and 17 weeks:

12 Weeks16 weeks 1

His facial features are way more defined, his head is more rounded, and his body is filled out a little more. He’s still got plenty of growing left to do, but I’d say he’s doing a pretty great job so far. 🙂 By the way, the second my mom saw that last picture of his profile she immediately said, “That is Alex.” And I totally agree. That is 100% my husband’s profile right there haha.

Our next ultrasound is the big one — the anatomy scan! It’s in 3 weeks and I already can’t wait to see my sweet boy again. And I can’t wait to see him, at last, in person. Five more months to go!
