Bumpdate – 23 weeks

23 WeeksHow far along: 23 weeks (& one day)
How big is baby: About the size of a grapefruit, or 10.5 inches. Weight is about a 1.2 pounds.
Newest baby developments: He has wrinkly skin right now that’s waiting to be filled up with chubby little baby fat and he’ll double in weight by the end of this month! He can hear a lot better now and is listening to louder environmental sounds (which will help him get used to this big world before he actually enters it).
Movement: He’s been getting more and more active by the day and I absolutely love it. This morning I was sitting on the couch, just hanging out with him and feeling him practice his moves, and all I could think was “I never want this to end.” Of course, I can’t wait to see him in person and watch those legs kick for real, but I know I’ll look back on this time and wish I could revisit those precious moments when it was just me and him. So for now, I’m enjoying each day of this pregnancy, treasuring every single kick (even the ones straight to my bladder as I’m trying to fall asleep), and thanking God for my beautiful, healthy little boy.
Weirdest symptoms: Still some shortness of breath and the usual stretching feeling as my muscles are trying to adapt and make more space for my little growing roommate.
Best moment this week: First, meeting my friend’s brand new baby boy (born right at the end of Mother’s Day – how cute!). Looking at him, it was so crazy to think that this tiny human is the same human who was growing in her belly just a few days ago. And even crazier to think that soon, it’ll be time to meet my own little boy! Second, my sister’s baby shower! My niece is already SO loved and adored and it was a joy to see my sister glowing with happiness and pride for her daughter.
Worst moment this week: Umm…nothing? It’s been a very happy week. 🙂
Cravings: Just about anything, every few hours. They’re not kidding around when they say you get way hungrier during the second trimester. I’m trying to choose healthy foods (instead of those pizza rolls I really want to shove in my mouth right now) but it can be hard!
Looking forward to: Oh so many things! Probably getting started on my boy’s nursery. I know we still have awhile to go, but I already have so many ideas and I just want to put them all into action!
